Straight vs Angled Spout Pouches: Machine Selection Guide
A straight spout and an angled or corner spout can require different positioning, support and tooling. The visible direction of the cap is not enough to select a machine. Buyers should provide the pouch drawing, spout flange dimensions and the intended sealing position so the feeding and welding arrangement can be reviewed.
Define the spout position clearly
Use a dimensioned pouch drawing to show whether the fitment is centered at the top, offset, or installed at a corner. Include the insertion direction, flange dimensions and the distance from the pouch edges. Photos are useful, but drawings reduce ambiguity during tooling review.
Straight or top-spout applications
A straight or top spout is generally positioned along the upper pouch edge. Machine review should still confirm pouch width, mouth opening, spout inner diameter, flange profile and whether the pouch can be supported consistently during insertion and sealing.
Angled or corner-spout applications
Corner formats place the fitment near an angled edge or corner. The tooling must support the pouch and locate the flange without twisting the laminate. The actual angle and edge geometry should be validated from samples rather than assumed from a product photo.
Model range is only the first filter
KQ-2601A is the main reference for common premade pouches within the published 70–160 mm pouch-width and 6–15 mm spout inner-diameter ranges. KQ-2608C is the reference for larger 180–350 mm pouches and 8–22 mm spouts. These ranges do not replace a sample and tooling review.
Confirm the sealed joint
Trial pieces should be checked for alignment, flange coverage, wrinkles, distortion and contamination in the seal area. Use the agreed seal-strength, leak or pressure test for the intended package and distribution conditions.

Buyer questions
Can the same machine run straight and angled spouts?
It may be possible when both formats fit the machine range and the required tooling and change parts are specified. Each pouch and spout combination should be reviewed separately.
Is a photo enough to confirm angled-spout tooling?
A photo helps identify the package, but a dimensioned drawing and physical samples are preferred for confirming the position, angle, flange support and sealing area.
Which model is suitable for large corner-spout pouches?
KQ-2608C is the reference model for the published 180–350 mm pouch-width range. Final suitability depends on the pouch construction, corner geometry and spout sample.
What commonly causes poor alignment around a corner spout?
Possible causes include inconsistent pouch presentation, unsuitable support, fitment variation, incorrect positioning or tooling that does not match the flange and pouch geometry.
